MEWPs/Aerial Scissor Lift Training Course

The course is designed to cover the general requirements for safe operation of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) including Aerial Boom Lifts, Scissor Lifts, and Bucket Trucks also known as Powered Personnel Platforms and the requirements of the ANSI A92 Standard. The course includes professional classroom theory instruction, a participant workbook, final written exam, and hands-on evaluation of the operator.

What you can expect during this course

Curriculum covers Washington State WAC 296-869 and ANSI Standards, types and selection, safe operating practices, associated hazards, controls, capabilities, stability, fall protection, inspections and maintenance, fueling, work zones, and manufacturer specific requirements.  An operator practical evaluation is included and will be conducted for use of the MEWP operator's performance to ensure that the operator has the knowledge, skills, and competency needed to operate the equipment safely. Operators must be evaluated on each Class and Model of personnel lift to be operated. Fall Protection may be required for the practical evaluation on the equipment. Fall Protection equipment will be provided but can also be brought to the class if preferred, depending on the class location.

This course covers the safe operation of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), including scissor lifts, as well as proper setup, hazard assessment, equipment inspection, and the safety measures necessary for working at height.

This training is designed for workers who will be operating scissor lifts or other types of aerial work platforms, as well as supervisors and safety personnel responsible for ensuring safe lift operation and compliance with safety regulations.
