Global Harmonization (GHS, SDS) HAZWOPER & HAZCOM

Do you have chemicals in your workplace? Do you understand what Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are for? This is one of the most cited workplace violations in the State and this class will help prepare you and your company to better understand how to develop a HAZCOM Program. This introductory-level HAZCOM training course is based on OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 and includes the most current revisions to OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), including the 2012 revisions incorporating the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).

In the event of any hazardous situation, employees and employers must be prepared to handle the event effectively and in the safest possible manner. This requires strict adherence to the HAZCOM and GHS standards established by OSHA to provide every worker with critical safety information. Hazard Communication Awareness (HAZCOM/GHS) for All Industries ensures that course participants are aware of fundamental hazard communication principles and is drawn from the most recent updates to OSHA standards to help ensure compliance. This also makes sure you are in compliance with WAC 296-901.

What you can expect during this course

During this training course, participants learn about hazardous materials classification, proper labeling, and the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure workplace safety. The course also covers OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HAZCOM) and HAZWOPER regulations, equipping workers with the knowledge to handle, store, and respond to hazardous substances safely.

This training is required for workers who handle, store, or may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, including those in construction, manufacturing, and environmental cleanup industries.

HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) focuses on handling and responding to hazardous waste spills and contamination, while HAZCOM (Hazard Communication) ensures workers understand how to safely manage and communicate chemical hazards using GHS labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

The course covers GHS labeling standards, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical hazard classification, personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and OSHA compliance requirements to promote a safe working environment.
